Amazon Alexa+ AI Developer Experiences

2025-present: Alexa+ is Amazon’s probabilistic AI assistant, a full departure from the classic deterministic voice experience. I’m the founding UX designer for its AI-native developer platform, building from zero the interaction architecture, design tenets, and agentic frameworks that enable third-party developers to integrate with Alexa+ at scale. My work defines where AI acts autonomously, where developers retain control, and how those boundaries stay clear under real conditions.

Physical-Digital Systems UX

I’ve designed across physical and digital surfaces at two points in my career. At Sphero, I designed the interaction model for the Star Wars Force Band, a hands-free wearable controller for BB-8 that used gesture recognition, haptics, audio, and light as the primary feedback layer. I conducted field research with 600+ participants across children and adult groups to validate the experience across the full product system, from unboxing through repeat play. At Amazon, I was the founding designer on Amazon Go, designing the end-to-end customer experience for a frictionless walk-out retail model across multiple physical footprints, including entry and exit flows, real-time receipts, and back-of-house operational tools for human-in-the-loop moderation and inventory.

Amazon Commerce & Systems Design

I set UX direction for high-consideration retail experiences across discovery, purchase, and post-purchase journeys. My work drove measurable outcomes including a 24.2% opt-in rate for monthly payments, 20% conversion on warranty upsells, and 25% reduction in warranty-related support contacts. I designed cross-team programs that unified complex systems into cohesive frameworks – establishing scalable patterns adopted across multiple product teams.
